The weekly edit
by Alix Willemez, PhD
You read the headlines. I show you the system underneath them, the one that decides what happens next.
You are curious about what actually holds the world together: the systems behind the headlines, the invisible architecture of money, time, energy, power, language, and culture. You do not need more news. You need to understand the mechanism underneath it, the one that was there before the headline and will still be there after.
Information arrives in pieces: a headline here, a statistic there, a crisis everywhere. Each piece looks manageable. Together, they rarely tell you anything you can act on, because nobody shows you the system connecting them. Most people trying to keep up end up reactive, catching up on what already happened instead of understanding what was always there.
Every week, one invisible system explained properly: how money actually works, why law bends like water, what a forest can teach an economy, how time governs us more than we govern it, why the words we use decide what we can see, and why some conventions we never chose feel like facts.
I hold a PhD in environmental law from Sorbonne University and a master's in sustainability leadership from the University of Cambridge.
Orphaned young and a survivor of a plane crash at nineteen, I learned early to turn life's hardest trials into fuel for growth, and soon after went to live with nomadic families on the Mongolian steppe.
Today I advise governments, financial institutions, non-governmental organisations, and universities navigating the ecological transition and times of accelerated change. Wide Angle brings that same lens to you: intelligence for leaders navigating climate, energy, and organisational disruption.
